Corporate Investments

Castle and Crystal has taken advantage of recent changes in legislation meaning credit unions can now offer savings accounts to organisations as well as individuals. As we are not driven to make money for external shareholders, a corporate investment will help to increase the supply of affordable credit within the local community and help provide a better service to our members.

A dividend will be paid in return for a corporate deposit, which is agreed at our AGM and is based upon the annual performance of the credit union. Deposits can be made up to a maximum of £21,792.

We are delighted that a variety of local organisations and community groups have decided to invest in Castle and Crystal since the new legislation has come into place.

In May 2013, Dudley council deposited £16000 into a credit union corporate account. This made us the first credit union in the Black Country and one of the very first in the UK to hold a corporate account with a local authority.

Following the Archbishop of Canterburys recent call to support credit unions, we have also welcomed corporate investments from a number of local churches & charity organisations. The Diocese of Worcester deposited £15000 into a corporate account during October 2013. This ethical investment will increase our pool of funds and enable more people to access to our local and affordable services.
