Castle and Crystal Credit Union can make receiving rent payments hassle and worry free for landlords with tenants living in the Dudley Borough.
Tenants now have the option of opening an account with Castle and Crystal. We receive the benefit from Dudley Council into the tenant’s account and can then with their agreement, pay this directly into your bank account via BACS transfer.
What does this service cost?
There is a small cost attached to each Housing Benefit payment that we process into any landlord’s account. (This charge is strictly applicable to the landlord and cannot be passed onto the tenant )
We invoice on a monthly basis, so we simply ask that you forward the payment to us via a cheque to keep your account up to date. Failure to do so can lead to a delayed transfer of rent payments.
The fees are to cover costs incurred and it is understood, that they are tax deductible. They may therefore cost you virtually nothing.

How does this work?
We are now handling so many LHA direct payments we need to standardise the payment day to the 15th of each month.
LHA will only be paid once we have received it. Therefore any LHA received from the Council after the 15th of each month will not be transferred until the following 15th of the month.
You should be aware that payment of housing benefit into the landlord’s bank can only be done if the tenant agrees. However, if for any reason a tenant asks us to suspend/cancel any LHA payments we will require a signature from the landlord in question to authorise this.
If you are prepared to accept the fees, all you need to do is introduce your tenant to Castle and Crystal and we will arrange for the relevant paperwork and agreements to be signed by both parties.
